Man Arrested For Threatening Garda With Replica Firearm

Garda in Dublin have arrested a man who pointed a replica firearm at officers and members of the public.

At around 2.30am on Tuesday morning, Garda responded to a call of a man with a suspicious device in Greencastle Road, Coolock, Dublin.

It is understood that a man in his 20s then threatened garda officers with a firearm, which was later discovered to be a replica.

It was confirmed by the Garda that armed officers responded to the incident and that one shot was fired. No one was injured.

The incident has been reported to the Garda Ombudsman Commission, which is standard procedure when an officer has discharged a firearm.

Men Arrested In Connection With Seizure Of Loaded Firearms

During the search a loaded revolver and pistol were discovered. It is understood that the search was part of an ongoing investigation into organised crime groups.

Missing Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 24-year-old man has been found "safe and well". Alex Sherwin had been reported missing on Sunday, with garda issuing a public appeal for assistance. No information on Mr Sherwin's whereabouts have been released, but garda said the investigation had now ended. They thanked the public for their help.
