Firearm Seized & Pair Arrested In Westmeath

Two males have been arrested and a firearm seized by Gardaí investigating organised crime in Blanchardstown, Co Westmeath.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday 03 December, with a fully loaded semi-automatic Makorav handgun removed from a vehicle.

The two males were detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended at Blanchardstown and Finglas Garda Stations.

Investigations are ongoing.

Man Shot Dead At Dublin House
A man has been found shot dead at a house in Dublin. The 27-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to his neck at a house in Ashcroft Grove, Blakestown, around 8.30pm on Tuesday. According to reports, a 17-month-old baby was in the house at the time of the shooting.

Three Arrested In Firearms And Drug Seizure
Three men have been arrested after a firearm and quantity of drugs were seized in west Dublin. Members of the Ronanstown Drugs Unit stopped and searched a car at about 18:50 on Monday in Clondalkin. During the search they recovered a shot gun and seized a quantity of cocaine.

Arrests Made In Byrne Murder Investigation
Gardai have arrested seven people as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of Stephen Byrne. Mr Byrne, 32, was shot dead by a lone gunman near his home on Sheriff Street on the 13th of July 2010. He was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
