Letterkenny Drug And Gun Haul Probed

Gardaí have said that items recovered during two search operations in Letterkenny at the weekend are still being examined and analysed by technical experts in Dublin.

Both illegal drugs and firearms were recovered in two separate incidents.

The seizure came when police found and seized a stolen vehicle in Bonagee in the early hours of Saturday morning.

They discovered a number of unlicensed firearms along with suspected drugs and drug paraphenalia.

One man was arrested and questioned about this and other drug-related incidents.

He has been released without charge pending a report to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Then, on Saturday morning, an apartment in the town centre was raided, with a quantity of cannabis and other items recovered.

One man was arrested and subsequently released, pending a file to the DPP.

Garda Investigate Shooting At Co Cork Home
An investigation has been launched after a shot was fired at a house in Co Cork on Monday. It is understood that armed gardaí responded to reports of a shot being fired at a house in Crookstown. When they arrived an elderly man is understood to have come out and spoken with garda officers at about 19:00.

New Powers Allow For Roadside Drug Testing
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross has announced the commencement of the drug driving provisions in the Road Traffic Act 2016. One of the key measures in the legislation provides for Preliminary Drug Testing, which will enable Gardaí to test motorists whom they suspect of driving under the influence of drugs at the roadside.

Gardaí Arrest 45 In Major Drugs Operation
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and “crack” cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

Gardaí Arrest Two After Fatal Meath Stabbing
A 25-year-old man has died and two have been arrested after a stabbing incident in Co Meath. The incident happened early this morning at the house in Rathmolyon. Gardaí discovered the victim at about 1am before he was taken to Connolly Memorial hospital in Blanchardstown, Dublin, where he died in the early hours of the morning.
