Mentally-Ill Woman Missing From HSE Care

A Co Roscommon woman who has been missing from a Health Service Executive (HSE) residential centre since last month, has now sparked concerns for her safety.

Deirdre Conneely, 32, has a history of mental illness and was living in HSE accommodation in Castlerea, Co Roscommon, before disappearing on May 18.

There are 18 residents at the home, Tithe na gCarad, which is manned by three staff during the day and two by night.

Gardaí in Castlerea say they are focusing their search in and around the River Suck area.

A police spokesman said about 40 people were turning out every day to assist in the search. "Searches are on-going. We are in the water again today," he said, "Personnel are searching on foot within a 10 metre stretch of the embankment and there are further searches downstream in and around the river. We have the sub-aqua team back out again today too."

Deirdre is described as 5ft 7in in height, of medium build, with black shoulder-length hair.

When last seen, she was wearing a black knee-length coat, navy track-suit bottoms, and black shoes.

Appeal Renewed For Missing Mother And Daughter
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information on the whereabouts of Paige Holland and her one-week-old daughter. It is understood that the 23-year-old mother, who is also know as Abbie Goodier or Paige Goodier, and her daughter, Nevaeh, have not been seen since they left their home in Westview, Cloonfield, Co Roscommon, on Friday, 15 January.

Two Killed In Separate Road Collisions
Two people have died as a result of road collisions on Ireland's road's yesterday evening. In the latest incident, a young man was killed when his car smashed into a tree in his hometown. Brian Kelly, 28, from Durrow, Co Laois, died in the crash on the N8 at Watercastle, Durrow, shortly before 10pm.

Man Arrested After Gardaí Seize €80k Of Cannabis
A 25-year-old man has been arrested following a drugs seizure. On Tuesday (26 August), a planned search was carried out at a property in Ballynsheglish, near Castlerea. Inside the home, gardaí discovered 100 cannabis plants which were at various stages of growth. Gardaí have said they have an estimated street value of €80,000.

Pair Arrested After Drugs & Drone Seized In Roscommon
Gardaí have arrested two people after disrupting a potential attempt to get drugs into a prison in Castlerea, County Roscommon. Officers stopped and searched a vehicle at Harristown, which is adjacent to the prison, at around 11am on Thursday morning, 11 April.

Major Search Operation Ongoing For Missing Jet-Skier
A major search operation is ongoing on Lough Ree in the Midlands after a woman went missing while jet-sking. The operation was launched on Sunday evening after a woman failed to return to shore at the lake, which borders Westmeath and Longford. Irish Coast Guard Helicopter, RNLI crews, civil defence and sub-aqua clubs are involved in the operation.
