€250k In Cash Recovered In Operation Platinum

Following a major operation targeting organised crime in Limerick yesterday - as part of Operation Platinum - Gardai have confirmed that €250,000 was seized.

Of the total amount, €230,000 was in euro and the rest was in pound sterling.

Twelve applications have been made to Limerick District Court this afternoon to attempt to retain the cash.

These applications have been made under the Criminal Justice Act and the Proceeds of Crime Amendment Act.

Three men, all in their 20s were arrested during the operation, but have since been released from custody.

Around 120 homes, 15 professional offices and seven business premises were searched during the operation.

The searches took place in Weston, St Mary's Park and Southill and other counties surrounding Dublin and Limerick.

A Garda spokesman said two firearms, a quantity of ammunition and two vehicles were confiscated during the raids.

Garda Arrest Man For Possessing Firearms
A man in his 20's has been arrested after firearms were found at a house in Darndale, Coolock. As part of a planned operation Gardai searched a house at Tulip Court on Thursday at around 17.15. Three firearms and a small amount of cannabis was discovered.

Man Arrested After Gun And Ammo Found In Car
A 29-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of a handgun and ammunition in a car on the Naas Road. The Organised Crime Unit stopped a car on the N7 near Kill, Co Kildare during a planned operation. A handgun and quantity of ammunition was recovered from the car and the driver arrested.

Almost €200,000 Seized From Vehicle In Dublin
Almost €200,000 in cash has been seized by garda during a vehicle search in Dublin. Gardaí attached to the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, assisted by the newly formed Special Crime Task Force, stopped and searched a vehicle in the vicinity of the Fonthill Road, Dublin 22 on Saturday, 27 August.

Cars Seized And Man Arrested In Limerick Operation
Members of the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) have seized a number of vehicles as part of an operation in County Limerick. A quantity of suspected cocaine worth around €20,000 was also uncovered. A 42-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday morning, 12 February, and is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
