Officers Seize Cigarettes At Rosslare Europort

Revenue officers have seized over 681,000 cigarettes at Rosslare Europort.

The contraband, with a retail value of over €357,000, was discovered close to midnight on Saturday, 28 November.

The cigarettes arrived from Cherbourg in a Lithuanian registered truck and were hidden inside a number of hot tubs.

The truck driver, who is in his 20s, was questioned and later released.

Investigations are continuing.

Cocaine worth an estimated €1.2 million has been seized by Revenue officers in Rosslare Europort. Officers stopped and searched an Irish registered truck after it was scanned as it disembarked a ferry. With the assistance of a detector dog, more than 17kgs of cocaine were discovered concealed in a side panel of the truck.

Almost 19,000 illegal cigarettes have been seized by Revenue Officers at Rosslare Europort. 18,800 'Ken', 'Marlboro', 'Marlboro Gold' and 'Rothmans' branded cigarettes were uncovered hidden in a car that had disembarked a ferry from France.

Over 900,000 Cigarettes Seized In Three Customs Service Operations
Revenue's Customs Service have seized 900,000 cigarettes at Dublin Port as a result of routine profiling. On Wednesday, 12 October, the cigarettes were detected, with the help of detector dog Casey, in five pallets which were marked as 'catering equipment' and had arrived into Dublin from the Netherlands.

Cannabis resin worth an estimated €380,000 has been seized by Revenue officers at Rosslare Europort. Following routine profiling, the drugs were discovered in the floor and boot area of a car that had disembarked a ferry from France.
