€1.2m Worth Of Cocaine Seized At Rosslare Europort

Cocaine worth an estimated €1.2 million has been seized by Revenue officers in Rosslare Europort.

Officers stopped and searched an Irish registered truck after it was scanned as it disembarked a ferry.

With the assistance of a detector dog, more than 17kgs of cocaine were discovered concealed in a side panel of the truck.

Gardaí were called and the driver of the truck, an Irishman aged in his 50s, was arrested.

Garda said that their investigation was "ongoing".

Revenue Officers have seized tobacco with an estimated value of more than €1 million at Rosslare Europort, Co Wexford. More than two tonnes of tobacco was uncovered when revenue officers stopped and searched a Polish-registered truck that was arriving from Cherbourg in France.

Officers Seize Cigarettes At Rosslare Europort
Revenue officers have seized over 681,000 cigarettes at Rosslare Europort. The contraband, with a retail value of over €357,000, was discovered close to midnight on Saturday, 28 November. The cigarettes arrived from Cherbourg in a Lithuanian registered truck and were hidden inside a number of hot tubs.

Woman Arrested Over Dublin Airport Cocaine Seizure
Cocaine worth an estimated €250,000 has been seized at Dublin Airport. A 39-year-old woman, who arrived in Dublin from Dubai, was stopped and questioned by Revenue officers. She was found to be carrying the cocaine in three confectionery tins. The woman was arrested and detained by Gardaí. Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.

The union representing prison officers have spoke of their "embarrassment" over the arrest of a prison officer in connection with drug smuggling. The prison officer was arrested yesterday morning at 7.30am on suspicion of smuggling drugs into Mountjoy Prison in Dublin.

British Men Remanded Over €500M Cocaine Seizure
The three British men charged in connection with a €500 million cocaine seizure off the coast of West Cork have been remanded in continuing custody after Thursday's court appearance. Philip Doo, 52, Christopher Wiggins, 42, and David Mufford, 44 were in Kinsale District Court this morning facing charges under the Drugs Trafficking Act.
