Firearm And Drugs Seized In Co Longford
A firearm and a quantity of drugs have been seized by garda as part of an operation targeting criminal activity in Co Longford.
A shotgun and ammunition were seized from a house in the Ballymahon area.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is being detained at Longford Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939. He can be held for up to three days.
Cannabis plants worth an estimated street value of €30,000 (pending analysis) were seized along with cultivation equipment when Gardaí searched a second house in Ballymahon.
Two males, aged in their late 20s and mid 30s, were arrested at the scene. They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Longford Garda Station and can be held for up to 24 hours.
The investigation is ongoing.

14 Suspected Stolen Vehicles Seized In Co Longford
14 suspected stolen vehicles have been seized in a garda operation in Co Longford. In an intelligence led operation, garda seized 12 Ford transit vans, a camper van and a caravan. Garda from Granard and Longford were joined by officers from the Department of Social Welfare and officers from Revenue Custom and Excise.

Woman's Body Found In County Laoise
Gardai are continuing with their investigations after the discovery of a woman's body in County Laoise. The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was found at a flat in Mountrath. The alarm was raised shortly after 8pm on Friday. A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to the incident and is detained at Portlaoise Garda Station.

Cocaine with an estimated street value of €500,000 has been seized and a man arrested following a planned search by the Ronanstown Garda drugs unit. The man, said to be in his late 30s, was arrested at the scene and is being held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Lucan Garda station.

Appeal Following Carjacking In Longford
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following an alleged assault and carjacking incident in Longford. Shortly before 6pm on Wednesday (29 October), a woman in her 40s was confronted at knife point by two males as she returned to her car on Ballymahon Street, Longford. She was forced into the vehicle by the men and driven from the scene at speed.
