Woman's Body Found In County Laoise

Gardai are continuing with their investigations after the discovery of a woman's body in County Laoise.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was found at a flat in Mountrath.

The alarm was raised shortly after 8pm on Friday.

A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to the incident and is detained at Portlaoise Garda Station.

A crime scene examination will be carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau.

Tests May Show Park Body Is Romanian
DNA tests are to be carried out after lines of inquiry have suggested the woman found stabbed to death in the Phoenix Park last week was a Romanian national. After a series of high profile appeals to the public, Gardaí have been given reason to believe the unidentified woman may be a Romanian woman who was living in Dublin for some time.

Three Arrested Over Knife-Point Hold-Ups
Three people have been arrested in connection with a spate of knife-point robberies in Dublin. Two women and a man were detained by garda during a planned operation in Blanchardstown, west Dublin. The three are being questioned about robberies in three shops in the area over the past two weeks, in which shopkeepers were threatened with knives.

Elderly Woman Killed By Bus
An Elderly woman has been killed after being hit by a bus in Cork. The 72-year-old woman who was walking at the time of the incident was fatally injured when a bus struck her. She was removed to Cork University Hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly before 9.00am.

Arrest Made In €60,000 Cannabis Seizure
A man was being questioned by Gardaí in Cork last night following the seizure of drugs worth a suspected €60,000 in a house near Blarney, Co Cork. The man, understood to be in his early 30s, was arrested when gardaí searched the house and found 3kg of cannabis herb.

Four Arrested In Connection With Theft Of Mobile Phones
Four people have been arrested in connection with the theft of mobile phones in Co Louth. Three men and one woman have been detained after a number of suspected stolen mobile phones were discover during searches carried out in Tallaght, Clondalkin and Portarlington. The phones are believed to have been stolen from mobile phone stores nationwide.
