Suspicious Device Found In County Meath

Gardai at Trim Co Meath are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a suspicious object.

The device was found at the Wellington Monument on the Summerhill Road in the town around 1.10am this morning.

The area was sealed off and diversions were put in place. The area is non-residential and there was no-one evacuated.

The Defence Forces EOD team was requested and they attended the scene at 3.20am. The object was made safe.

No persons were injured and no property damaged during the course of the incident.

No further information is available at this stage.

Over 660 Motorists Found Speeding Over Easter Bank Holidays
More than 660 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit across the Causeway Coast and Glens during the Easter bank holiday weekend – an increase of 22% from 2022. Man Injured in Co Meath Shooting
A man has been injured in a shooting in County Meath. The attack happened at a house in Dowth, at approximately 9.45pm on Sunday. The victim was shot a number of times in the upper body and his leg. He is currently being treated at Our Lady of Lordes Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Garda Escapes Cork 'Fire-Bomb' Attack
A garda on speeding detection duties has escaped the vehicle uninjured after his vehicle was 'petrol bombed'. The police traffic van was set alight in Co Cork last night while the garda was still inside. The attack took place at around 7.30pm on the Tower road between Blarney and the village of Tower in Co Cork.

Cannabis Worth €127k Seized In Meath
Gardaí in County Meath have seized cannabis worth over €127,000 from a house in Stamullen. The drugs were found during a search of a house in the Mill Lane area by the Meath Divisional Drugs Unit, as an investigation into the sale and supply of illegal substances in the area continues. 22 cannabis plants and around 5.

Man To Appear In Court Over Co Meath Burglary
A 38-year-old man is due to appear at Navan District Court charged in connection with a burglary in Ashbourne, Co Meath. It is understood that a homeowner returning to her house saw an unknown male inside her property at around 4:30pm on Saturday, 22 January. She immediately left the area and contacted Garda.
