Garda Escapes Cork 'Fire-Bomb' Attack
A garda on speeding detection duties has escaped the vehicle uninjured after his vehicle was 'petrol bombed'.
The police traffic van was set alight in Co Cork last night while the garda was still inside.
The attack took place at around 7.30pm on the Tower road between Blarney and the village of Tower in Co Cork.
One garda was in the 'Gatso' speed detection vehicle when the passenger window was broken and a flammable object thrown into the cabin.
A spokesman said the fire damage was not serious but the van will be taken out of service for some time. Gardaí say an investigation is under way.

Man Dies In Co Cork Road Crash
Gardaí have reported that a 47-year-old man has died in a single vehicle road crash near Charleville, Co Cork. The crash happened at around 21:30 last night in Boulard. It is believed that the vehicle struck a tree before hitting a ditch. The victim was pronounced dead the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

Man Arrested Over The Murder Of Mikolaj Wilk
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Mikolaj Wilk in County Cork last June. The suspect, aged in his 30s, has been detained at Togher Garda Station. 35-year-old Mr Wilk, who was originally from Poland, died when he was attacked by a gang at his home in Ballingcollig.

Eight former garda stations are going under the hammer at a public auction in Dublin. It is understood that there has been strong interest in the building, some of which were only vacated recently, with others sitting unused for decades. The stations are located in counties Galway, Cork, Longford, Leitrim, Tipperary and Wexford.

Two Arrested In Connection With Cash-In-Transit Van Robbery

Both men are being held at Tallaght Garda Station where they can be questioned for up to 72 hours.
