Court Appearance Over Meath Stabbing

Two men have appeared in court today charged with the fatal stabbing of a man in Meath.

The two males who are both in their 20s were in the dock at Trim District Court, Co Meath this morning, charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of Barry Maguire in Ashbourne, Co Meath last Saturday.

The fatal stabbing occurred at approximately 4.15am on the Milltown Estate, Ashbourne.

Mr Maguire, 23, died shortly after he was taken to Connolly Hospital as a result of the incident.

A second man was also taken to Connolly Hospital as a result of the same incident. However, his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

The scene was preserved and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist were requested.

Meanwhile, a man is due to appear in court this morning charged in relation to a shooting on a farm in Co Wicklow.

The 22-year-old man was arrested after Séamus O’Byrne, 50, was wounded once in the upper body when a man armed with a shotgun at Three Wells farm near Aughrim on Tuesday afternoon shot him.

Mr O'Byrne is in a serious condition in St Vincent's hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí believe the attack is linked to a personal matter and say it is not connected to gangland crime.

The suspect is a local man known to Mr O'Byrne. He will appear at Bray District Court this morning.
