Mahon Trial Sees Third Day Of Deliberation

The jury in the trial of Ronnie McManus, who is accused of murdering Sligo teenager Melissa Mahon, is now into its third day of deliberation.

The 44-year-old man Ronnie McManus, also known as Ronald Dunbar of Rathbraughan Park in Sligo, denies murdering the 14-year-old at his home in September 2006.

The jury had requested a DVD recording of the cross-examination of one of the accused man's daughters, but was told the recording was not available because of an equipment malfunction.

They were informed the DVDs were not logged or catalogued, and that the court was unable to locate the piece they were seeking, but he said all endeavours would be made to retrieve the footage in question overnight.

Mr Justice Barry White sent the jury home for a second night to resume at 10.30am this morning.

They are now reviewing an audio recording of the cross-examination and Justice Barry White said the transcript was also available.

Ronnie Mahon denies threatening to kill his own daughter, and denies the murder of Melissa Mahon who went missing in September 2006 before her remains were found on the shores of Lough Gill.

Later Ronnie McManus' daughters told gardaí he had killed her.
