Family Charged Over Primary School Knife Chase

The three people arrested yesterday in connection to an attack at a primary school have been named as Conor Mahon, 21, his wife Rose Mahon, 22, and her sister Laura Molloy, 21.

Conor Mahon has been charged with possession of a slash-hook primary school.

The incident happened around 13:40 yesterday when two men where chased into the Holy Family National School in Ennis by masked men.

The women are alleged to have attacked the chased mens abandoned car outside the school.

It is understood there were eight five-year-olds in the classroom along with a teacher and special needs assistant when the men rushed in.

The children were ushered to safety by staff at the school and none were harmed.

The trio appeared in Ennis District Court yesterday where they appeared before Judge Patrick Durcan.

Mr Mahon is charged with having a slash hook and engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour at the school. He did not respond when charged.

Rose Mahon is charged with unlawfully causing €1,500 worth of damage to a 1999-registered Land Rover belonging to Thomas Sherlock outside the school on Tuesday.

She is also charged with engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour.

She replied: 'I'm sorry' when charged with the two offences.

Laura Molloy is also charged with damaging the 4x4 outside the school and engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour.

They will appear in court again on Wednesday 28.

North's Latest School Fire Probed
Vandals have again set fire to a school in north Belfast. The PSNI are investigating after the canteen at Stella Maris School on the Shore Road was attacked overnight. It was also found that paint had been thrown over the building when the blaze was discovered at 2am on Wednesday.
