Separate Searches Rumble Drug Stockpiles

Gardaí have uncovered two large drug stockpiles following separate searches last night.

As part of a planned search, Gardaí conducted a search on a house in the Poppintree area of Ballymun at approximately 11pm last night.

Officers assisted by the Finglas Drug unit, Divisional Crime Task Force Units and the Garda Dog Unit found approximately 50,000 of what is believed to be ecstasy tablets, with a potential street value of €500,000.

Three males, two in their early twenties and one a juvenile, were arrested at the scene and are detained at Blanchardstown and Finglas Garda stations under the drug trafficking act.

In a second separate search, gardai from Lucan assisted by gardai from Ronanstown made a significant find after stopping a car in the Neilstown area last night.

The car was searched and a quantity on what is believed to be heroin was discovered. In a follow up search on a house in Neilstown shortly after 9.00pm a further quantity of heroin was discovered

In total, heroin with an estimated street value of €100,000, subject to analysis, was seized.

A male juvenile was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Ronanstown Garda Station. He can be detained for a period up to 24 hours.

Gardaí Arrest 45 In Major Drugs Operation
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and “crack” cocaine in the Dublin region. 200 Cannabis Plants Found In Co Kerry
Cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of €160,000, were discovered by gardai in Rathmore, Co Kerry, last night. Officers from the Kanturk Drug Unit carried out a planned search of a house near the town, uncovering some 200 plants at various stages of growth. The scene has been sealed and a technical examination is underway.

Man Arrested Following Firearm Seizure In Dublin
Gardaí from the DMR North Central Divisional Drug Unit have arrested a man following the seizure of a firearm, firearm components, ammunition and suspected stolen jewellery in Dublin. The seizure was made following the planned search of a premises in Lucan on Wednesday 6 May at approximately 5.30pm.

Four Arrested In €1.5M Cocaine Haul
Two men have been placed under arrest in Dublin after a stop and search in the capital. Gardai from the Balbriggan drug unit have seized drugs following a search of a car in Balrothery, Balbriggan Co Dublin on Tuesday afternoon. During the operation, members of the Balbriggan Drug Unit in Balrothery, stopped a car.

New Powers Allow For Roadside Drug Testing
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross has announced the commencement of the drug driving provisions in the Road Traffic Act 2016. One of the key measures in the legislation provides for Preliminary Drug Testing, which will enable Gardaí to test motorists whom they suspect of driving under the influence of drugs at the roadside.
