Weekend Drug Seizures Scoop over €600K In Cannibas

Gardaí have made a series of arrests and seizures this weekend in Dublin, with a drug haul estimated at over €600,000.

Two men were arrested on Sunday afternoon and detained following a planned drug operation by the Detective Unit in Cabra.

The men, aged early 30s and early 20s, will appear in court on Monday in relation to Cannabis Resin seized in Cabra worth in the region of €600,000.

In a separate operation in the Dunard area of Cabra, Gardai from the Blanchardstown Drug Unit, assisted by local Detective units, seized a quantity of ecstasy tablets, with a potential street value of €10,000, subject to analysis by Gardai.

A male and female, both aged early 40s, were arrested and are currently detained in Blanchardstown Garda Station.

During another operation, targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Rathfarnham area, Gardaí searched a house in Killakee Gardens, Firhouse, Dublin 16 where they seized cannabis resin with a street value of €27, 000.

A 21 year-old man was arrested in Rathfarnham earlier today in relation to the seizure and he is presently detained at Rathfarnham Garda Station.

Gardaí Arrest 45 In Major Drugs Operation
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and “crack” cocaine in the Dublin region. New Powers Allow For Roadside Drug Testing
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross has announced the commencement of the drug driving provisions in the Road Traffic Act 2016. One of the key measures in the legislation provides for Preliminary Drug Testing, which will enable Gardaí to test motorists whom they suspect of driving under the influence of drugs at the roadside.

Over €1M Cannabis Seized In Dublin
Over €1M worth of cannabis has been seized in two separate drug finds in Dublin over the weekend. In the latest incident, Gardai seized a quantity of Herbal Cannabis and arrested a woman in her 40's on Sunday night after an operation by detectives from the Garda National Drugs Unit, Pearse Street Drugs Unit and Revenue Customs Service.
