Man Struck 40 Times With Crowbar

A Polish man is recovering in hospital after a savage beating by a robber armed with a crowbar.

The attack took place in the seaside town of Bray and saw Krystosf Zietkiewicz, 48, left in agony after receiving multiple fractures from the frenzied robber who attacked him as he walked home.

The assailant is believed to have become enraged after realising Krystosf had no cash and rained up to 40 more blows down on him.

The father of one suffered broken bones in his arms which he used to protect his head and face.

However, his attacker also smashed one of his hips in four places as he lay defenceless.

He was just minutes from his home near the centre of Bray when he was set upon in the early hours of Sunday, July 13.

The polish national from Wroclaw has been left almost completely immobile as he recovers in a Dublin hospital, where he is expected to be until October.

A garda hunt for his attacker began with door-to-door enquiries in the area and is ongoing. One officer described it as the worst attack he had ever seen.
