Boy, 6, 'Critical' Following Car Crash

A six-year-old boy remains in a 'critical condition' following a car crash in Co Clare, Gardaí have revealed.

The young boy was travelling in the car with his mother when the accident took place just after 9am on the Ballyvaughan Road close to the village of Bellharbour.

It is believed the mother and child had to be cut free from the wreckage and were rushed to University College Hospital in Galway after their car had gone out of control on a bend and collided with another vehicle. The six-year-old’s condition is said to be critical, while his mother remains in a serious condition.

The road is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.

Young Boy In Critical Condition After Crash In County Clare
A six-year-old boy form Craughwell is in critical but stable condition in Beaumount Hospital in Dublin after he was injured in a car crash in County Clare yesterday. The boy's mother also sustained injuries but is now in a stable condition at University Hospital Galway. The accident happened on the Bellharbour Road at around 9am.

Shot Garda Remains In Stable Condition
The Garda shot in Dublin yesterday morning remains in a stable condition in hospital. 34-year-old Paul Sherlock, was shot in the stomach after he stopped a stolen car shortly after 9am on Ossary Road in Dublin's financial district. Mr Sherlock, a motorcyclist with the regional traffic unit, was taken to Mater Hospital.
