Controlled Explosion Carried Out At Crumlin Hospital

A controlled explosion was carried out by army bomb disposal experts at Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin on Thursday morning.

The explosion, which was conducted on a reportedly 'unstable substance' found in one of the hospital's laboratories on Wednesday evening, was carried out at 6:30am on Thursday.

Viable Explosive Device 'Made Safe'
A viable explosive device has been made safe in Co Cork. According to reports, a controlled explosion was carried out on the device on Friday (13 February). The object was discovered outside a house in the Knocknaheeney area at around 10am this morning. A number of nearby homes were evacuated and roads were closed.

Limerick Device Made Safe By Army Disposal Unit
The Army bomb disposal unit has made safe a device in County Limerick. The War of Independence grenade was discovered by a man while he was gardening. Nearby houses were evacuated at around midnight while explosive experts carried out a safe and controlled explosion. At around 1am the scene was declared safe.

Aer Lingus Reports Fall In Passenger Numbers
Aer Lingus has reported a fall in passenger numbers for the month of November when compared to the same month in 2013. In total, the airline carried 702,000 passengers last month, which is down by 3.6% from November last year. The company said the figures were in line with a planned reduction in its short-haul capacity.
