Aer Lingus Reports Fall In Passenger Numbers

Aer Lingus has reported a fall in passenger numbers for the month of November when compared to the same month in 2013.

In total, the airline carried 702,000 passengers last month, which is down by 3.6% from November last year.

The company said the figures were in line with a planned reduction in its short-haul capacity.

Short haul traffic for the month fell by 9.1%, from 560,000 in November 2013, to 509,000 last month.

With regards to long haul traffic, Aer Lingus said this increased by 28.4% to 104,000 passengers. This compares to 81,000 passengers in November 2013.

Looking at load factors, which is how many seats are occupied on each flight, this fell by 0.7% to 72.6% for the month.

Elsewhere, total passenger numbers for the 11 months to the end of November rose by 3.7% to 10.373 million.

Passenger Numbers Increase For Aer Lingus
Aer Lingus has recorded a 7% increase in its passenger numbers for the month of August. Last month, the airline said it carried a more than 1,205 million passengers – an increase from 1,126 million passengers in August 2013. Fewer Sign On To Live Register In November
Latest figures by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), have revealed that there were 4,100 fewer people signing onto the live register last month, on a seasonally adjusted basis. The seasonally adjusted unemployment total fell to 367,100. In unadjusted terms, 352,647 people signed on – an annual decrease of 38,860, to 352,647.

CSO Figures Show Drop In Unemployment
New figures from the Central Statistics Office show the rate of unemployment dropped to 14.6% in November, down from 14.7% the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of people on the Live Register was 432,300 in November; a monthly decrease of 1,500.

Marriage Equality Referendum Slated For 22 May
