Suspect Devices Found In Dublin And Offaly

Two suspect devices have been uncovered in Dublin and Offaly.

The first of the finds - on Thursday - were made at a public park in Clondalkin in Ballyowen Park at around 9.15pm.

After members of the Army Bomb Disposal Unit carried out a controlled explosion at around 11.00pm, the package was found to have no explosive content and the all-clear was given at 11.45pm.

A bomb disposal team also dealt with a device found under a railway bridge on the outskirts of Tullamore, Co Offaly.

The device was discovered at around 7.00pm on Thursday night.

A controlled explosion was not carried out on the device but it was made safe at the scene.

On further examination it was found that the device was viable.

It is thought that it may have been dropped at the location to be moved later. The all-clear was given at 8.50pm

The remains of each device were handed over to gardaí at the scene for investigation.

Two More Explosive Devices Found
A viable improvised explosive device (IED) was found shortly after midnight lastnight outside a house at Dunmore Park in Tallaght in Dublin. The Army Bomb Disposal Team (ABDT) attended the scene and houses in the surrounding area were evacuated, the device was destroyed in a controlled explosion at about 3am.

Arrests Made Over Suspect Devices Found In Cork
Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the discovery of a number of suspect devices found in Cork city last year. A man and a woman in their 30s were detained in Kells, Co Meath on Tuesday, while another man in his 20s was arrested in Mallow, Co Cork.

Viable Explosive Device Made Safe In Cork
The Army Bomb Disposal Team have made safe a Viable Improvised Explosive Device found near a pub in Mayfield, Cork. Residents in nearby properties had to be evacuated during the overnight incident. The team rendered the device safe without the need for a controlled explosion and the scene was declared safe at 4.30am.

Over 660 Motorists Found Speeding Over Easter Bank Holidays
More than 660 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit across the Causeway Coast and Glens during the Easter bank holiday weekend – an increase of 22% from 2022. Chief Inspector Sinead McIldowney said: "The Safety Camera Vans were deployed at various locations across the North Coast and the increase in these detections is a worrying trend.

Gardai Investigate Explosives Found In Co Kildare
Gardai are investigating two viable explosive devices found in the area of the rail line in Athay, County Kildare. The Army Bomb Disposal Team were alerted and the area was delared safe at arounf 7pm. Train services had to be stopped for a short while and house also had to be evacuated.
