Limerick Skip Body Named
Gardaí have named the homeless man whose body was found in a skip in Limerick.
Kevin Fitzpatrick (36), originally from Derbyshire, had been living in Ireland for the past seven years.
The body was found by workers at a waste recycling plant in Luddemore, around 13km from Limerick city, shortly after midday on Monday.
On Tuesday, the State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy confirmed that the man's death was caused by severe crush injuries, consistent with accidental injury caused by the skip being loaded onto a refuse collection truck.
It is believed that the man was sleeping rough in a large industrial wheeled bin, which was emptied into a compacting truck during a rubbish collection.
Gardaí said that they believed that the man had only arrived in Limerick in recent days, after previously spending some time in Cork.
Gardai are still investigating the incident.
