Limerick Skip Death Was 'Accident'

The death of a man whose body was found in a skip in Limerick is understood to have been accidental.

The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy confirmed that the man's death was caused by severe crush injuries which were caused accidentally by the skip being loaded onto a refuse collection truck.

The body was found by workers at a waste recycling plant in Luddemore, Grange, around 13km from Limerick city, shortly after midday on Monday.

Gardaí are trying to establish the identity of the man, whom they believe was in his mid-thirties and homeless. They also believe that he had only arrived in Limerick in recent days, after previously spending some time in Cork.

Gardaí are currently trying to contact relatives of the man in England.
