Witness Appeal After Fatal Van Crash On Lee Road In Cork
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision on Lee Road, Cork, Co. Cork.
The incident involved a single vehicle, a van, and is believed to have occurred between 10:00pm on Monday, 14 September, and 2:10am on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.
The driver, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the local mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course. The coroner has been informed.
The road remains closed to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out a technical examination.
Gardaí are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who travelled on Lee Road, Cork, Co. Cork, between 10:00pm on Monday 14 September and 2:10am on Tuesday 15 September 2026, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to share it with the investigating Gardaí.

Unsafe Activity Near Gas Pipelines Logged More Than Once A Week Last Year
Gas Networks Ireland says 63 incidents of potentially unsafe activity occurred near gas transmission pipelines in 2025, averaging more than one encroachment a week, with a further 24 cases recorded between January and the end of August 2026. Landowners were responsible for 13 of the 24 instances reported so far this year.
