Operation Meacán: Gardaí Seize Bikes, Drugs And Firearm In Dublin Day Of Action

Gardaí are carrying out a high-impact day of action under Operation Meacán in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

As part of today's activity, officers conducted 74 searches across the region, seizing 75 e-bikes and e-scooters, seven Surron bikes, four scrambler motorcycles, three quad vehicles, €8,000 in cash, suspected drugs valued at more than €100,000 (pending analysis), and a sawn-off shotgun with ammunition.

Five people have been arrested to date: a man in his 20s is detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at a Garda station in the Dublin Region in connection with the firearm seizure; a second male was arrested on foot of a bench warrant; and three other adult males were arrested and are currently detained for drug-related offences.

The operation is a focused, collaborative policing effort led by Divisional Crime Units and supported by Community Engagement Areas across the region, designed to fulfil Operation Meacán's aims.

Launched in December 2023 in the Dublin Metropolitan Region, Operation Meacán targets the use of electric motorbikes, e-scooters and e-bikes in criminality, including drug distribution, money laundering, transporting firearms, Drug Related Intimidation (DRI) and other serious offences.

In addition to enforcement, Gardaí engaged with the public in the Dublin Region on current rules for motorcycles, e-bikes and e-scooters, as well as new regulations due to take effect this month.

Nightly Water Restrictions Remain In Dublin City
Following the last five night's water restrictions in effect in Dublin City, the City Council has announced nightly hours of restriction, which will remain in place but the operative hours will be reduced to 10 hours for the next two nights - from 9.00pm to 7.00am each day, and will remain in place across the Dublin Region.

The intelligence led revenue operation saw revenue officers search an apartment in Coolock under warrant. The herbal cannabis was found hidden in electrical equipment which had originated in the UK.

Gardaí Seize €200,000 Of Heroin In Dublin
Gardaí have seized a major cache of class A drugs from a house in Dublin on Wednesday. The find was the result of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Dublin City. Gardaí investigations led them to a premises in Hillcrest Business Park, Greenhills Road, Walkinstown, Dublin 12 where they uncovered the drugs.
