Gardaí Conduct Land Searches Connected To 2009 Murder Investigation
Gardaí have conducted a search of land in the Rathfarnham area of Dublin 16 as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2009 murder of Liam Murray.
The search, which took place on Monday 11 May 2026, is the latest development in a case that began when Mr Murray's body was discovered in his home on 20 March 2009.
Investigative findings indicate that the 42-year-old had spent a significant portion of St Patrick’s Day 2009 at the Headline Bar on Clanbrassil Street, Dublin 8. He was later seen travelling toward his residence at Rockbrook Cottages on Edmondstown Road, Rathfarnham, at approximately 6:20pm. On the day of his disappearance, Mr Murray was driving a black Mitsubishi Pajero. The last confirmed contact with him occurred on that same evening, 17 March 2009. He was described as being 5ft 10in tall, of stocky build, with short, curly, dark brown hair.
The investigation team has emphasised that their primary focus remains on the victim and his family, with the goal of gathering all possible evidence to bring the matter to a conclusion.
Gardaí are renewing their appeal to anyone who may have met, spoken with, or had any interaction with Liam Murray in the days leading up to the discovery of his body.
Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is urged to contact the team at Terenure Garda Station on 01 6666400. Alternatively, information can be provided via the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or at any Garda Station.

Criminal Car Cache Discovered By Gardaí
A large number of suspect cars has been seized in Dublin, Gardaí revealed yesterday evening. Officers from Baltinglass seized a total of 13 suspected stolen cars during a planned search on an underground car park in Mill Court Apartments, Baltinglass on Monday at noon.

The appeal for information from the public into the murder of Dublin Man Liam Murray has been renewed.
