Woman Hospitalised Following Cork Mugging

A woman in her 90's has been hospitalised after she was mugged in Co Cork on Tuesday.

The victim was targeted in the Castle Grounds near the centre of Macroom while walking with a friend at around 2.55pm on Tuesday afternoon, 17 September.

A passerby contacted gardaí after the pair were mugged by two men from behind, with the injured woman being pulled from the park bench before having her bag stolen.

She was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Gardaí are in the process of checking CCTV footage to trace the men's movements and have appealed for public assistance. Any motorists who were driving through the town or in Sleaveen between 2.30 and 3.30pm on Tuesday are urged to contact them on 026-20590.

Manhunt After Two Stabbed In Cork
Gardaí have launched a manhunt after two people were stabbed at Cork University Hospital. According to reports, it is thought the two men got into a fight with a third man on the ground of the hospital earlier today (23 October). The victims are receiving treatment at the scene, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Woman Dies After Cork Hit-And-Run
An 85-year-old woman who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in Co Cork has died in hospital. The woman was struck by a car on the N25 in Castlemartyr village, just after 7am on Tuesday. Gardaí said that the car, described as small and dark-coloured, failed to stop. The driver is being sought.
