Garda Injured During Dublin Drugs Seizure

A man has been arrested and a quantity of cocaine seized following an stop and search which saw a Gardaí injured in Dublin on Monday.

The incident took place at around 6pm when a local Roads Policing Unit stopped a car on the M50 at Tallaght and discovered cocaine worth €10,000.

The vehicle suddenly fled the scene and collided with a Garda member, before being located a short distance away. The driver, a 20-year-old male, was apprehended following a short pursuit on foot and is expected before Dublin District Court this week.

The guard was treated for minor injuries at Tallaght Hospital and later discharged.

Woman Arrested Over Dublin Airport Cocaine Seizure
Cocaine worth an estimated €250,000 has been seized at Dublin Airport. A 39-year-old woman, who arrived in Dublin from Dubai, was stopped and questioned by Revenue officers. She was found to be carrying the cocaine in three confectionery tins. The woman was arrested and detained by Gardaí. Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.

Man Shot In Leg At His Dublin Home
A man was shot in the leg at his home in Dublin last night. The man, in his 30s, was shot at a number of times, at his house in Tallaght, south Dublin, according to Gardai. He was taken to Tallaght Hospital, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The victim was shot at three times in the leg at his front door.

Teen Arrested Following Firearm Seizure
A 19-year-old man has been arrested by gardaí following the seizure of a firearm in Tallaght, Dublin. He was arrested on the Jobstown Road at approximately 12.40am on Tuesday morning. Gardaí were alerted after a man was seen holding a weapon. The male was chased on foot and gardaí disarmed and arrested him.

Man Dies Following Dublin Apartment Fire
An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fatal fire at an apartment complex in Dublin city centre. A man, aged in his 60s, has died in the Mater Hospital as a result of the fire. The fire happened at the building on Benburb Street at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 01 January.
