Six Arrested After €4m Dublin Drug Seizures

Six people have been arrested after cocaine and cannabis worth €4 million was seized in Dublin.

The arrests followed three separate Gardaí operations in the city on Thursday 06 December.

Three men and one woman, all in their 40's, were detained after officers intercepted a handover of 35kgs of cocaine worth €2.8m at a car park in the Liffey Valley.

It is believed the drugs were being transferred from a car with a Dutch registration plate, to an Irish registered vehicle.

Assistant Gardaí Commissioner John O'Driscoll said one of the men arrested is a Dutch national, while the woman is believed to be from the Dominican Republic.

The four are being detained at Clondalkin, Ballyfermot and Lucan garda stations.

Approximately €50,000 in cash was also recovered in a follow-up search at a residence in County Meath.

A separate haul of 45kg of cannabis, with a value of around €800,000, was also seized when Gardaí officers stopped a van on the Naas Road at Rathcoole, County Dublin.

One man in his 40's from Navan was detained at the scene.

Both raids were carried out by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

The sixth individual was arrested when €200,000 worth of cannabis was found in a pre-planned raid in Finglas in north Dublin.

All six people in custody are being held under drugs trafficking legislation and can be questioned for up to a week.
