Two Arrested In Connection With Dublin Drug Supply

Two men have been arrested in Dublin as part of a gardaí investigation into the supply of drugs in the city.

Gardaí said the men, from Eastern Europe, were arrested by the Ballymun Drugs Unit in an underground car park on Tuesday night.

It is understood the drugs, worth an estimated €500,000, were seized during the operation.

The investigation is ongoing.

Gardaí Arrest 45 In Major Drugs Operation
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and “crack” cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

New Powers Allow For Roadside Drug Testing
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross has announced the commencement of the drug driving provisions in the Road Traffic Act 2016. One of the key measures in the legislation provides for Preliminary Drug Testing, which will enable Gardaí to test motorists whom they suspect of driving under the influence of drugs at the roadside.

Garda Raid 'Internet Drug Distribution Centre'
Gardaí have seized drugs worth an estimated €200,000 and shut down what it has described as an "internet drug distribution centre". Garda said the raid was carried out as part of a worldwide investigation into the sale of illegal drugs using an encrypted network, known as Darknet.

Two Men Held Over Suspicious Device In Co Clare
Two men have been arrested after a car was stopped and searched at Ballyblood yesterday afternoon, and garda discovered drug paraphernalia and cartridges. The men, aged 17 and 22, are currently being detained at Killaloe Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
