Garda Appeal For Information On Murder Of Derek Hutch

An investigation has been launched into the murder of Derek Coakley-Hutch at a halting site in Dublin on Saturday, 20 January.

The 27-year-old is the fourth member of the Hutch family to be killed in two years. The other three are said to have been victims of a feud with the Kinahan family. Garda are working to establish if Derek's murder on Saturday afternoon is related to the feud. 14 men have died to date as a result of the ongoing family feud.

Mr Hutch was shot three times at the halting site, next to Wheatfield Prison. It is understood that he had visited his brother at the same prison the day before.

As part of their investigation, garda have appealed for information on a suspected second getaway car.

It is believed that the killers fled the scene in a black Volkswagen Golf - which was found burnt out a short time later - before transferring to a black Toyota Avensis which was also found burned out at Snowdrop walk in Darndale, Dublin.

The scene of the shooting remains sealed off for a continuing forensic examination today.

Gardaí wish to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting and are particularly interested in anyone who may have dashcam footage.
