Large Garda Presence For David Byrne Funeral

A large-scale Gardaí operation will be in place today (Monday) during the funeral of David Byrne, who died in a gun attack at the Regency Hotel in Dublin on Friday 01 February.

It is understood that security checks will be carried out at St Nicholas of Myra church on Frances Street ahead of the funeral mass.

Gardaí have said that while there will be a large uniformed and armed Garda presence they do not expect there to be trouble, but are "taking precautions in the light of an ongoing gangland feud".

There will be no road closures or parking restrictions during the operation.

The funeral of Eddie Hutch, who was killed in a suspected retaliation attack, is due to take place later this week.
