Man Dies After Car And Bus Collide In Roscommon

A man in his 50s has died following a fatal car crash in Co Roscommon.

The incident occurred on the R446 at Ballydangan at around 10am on Thursday, 02 November.

The victim was killed when the car he was driving collided with a bus. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Roscommon Hospital.

An 11-year-old girl who was the passenger in the car received minor injuries and was taken to Portiuncula Hospital.

The driver of the bus and three passengers were also taken to Portiuncula Hospital with minor injuries. In total, 12 passengers were on the bus.

The stretch of the R446 where the collision occurred is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone travelling on the R446 from Ballinasloe to Athlone between 9.30am and 10.15am on the 02 November to contact Roscommon Garda Station on 090 6638300, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí in Roscommon have appealed for witnesses to a serious two car road traffic collision in the early hours of Friday morning. Two cars collided on the Brideswell to Athlone Road, approximately one mile outside Brideswell, at approximately 4am.

Driver Killed In Roscommon Crash
A man has died as a result of a car collision in County Roscommon in the early hours of this morning. The single vehicle collision occurred at 2.45am this morning. The 34-years-old man, who was the only occupant of a car, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Roscommon General Hospital.

Three Questioned After Roscommon Car Chase
Three men involved in a high-speed road chase following a burglary in County Roscommon are being held for questioning. Gardai made the arrests following reports that the Eircom building in Castlerea had been broken into at 3.00am on Friday morning.
