Two Men Killed In Separate Collisions In Dublin And Roscommon

Two men have been killed in separate road traffic collisions in Dublin and Roscommon.

A male motorcyclist died in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car at the junction of Killbarron Park and Cromcastle, Coolock at approximately 1.30pm.

The man, understood to be in his late teens, was treated at the scene before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The female driver of the car was also treated in Beaumont Hospital, where her injuries are said to be minor.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Santry Garda Station on 01-6664000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Elsewhere, in Roscommon, a male pedestrian aged in his 70s was fatally injured when he was involved with a collision with a car on the N5 at Frenchpark, Co Roscommon at 5.15pm on Thursday, 8 December.

The driver of the car, a man, was not injured.

The N5 is closed between Frenchpark and Ballaghadrreen pending the arrival of Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Man Killed Following Dublin Robbery
A man has been found killed in the car park of a shop in Dublin after an attempted robbery on Thursday night. Details of the killing are still emerging, but gardaí at Clontarf Garda Station have launched an investigation into the death of the man in his twenties on what is thought to be the escape route of the robber.

Driver Killed In Roscommon Crash
A man has died as a result of a car collision in County Roscommon in the early hours of this morning. The single vehicle collision occurred at 2.45am this morning. The 34-years-old man, who was the only occupant of a car, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Roscommon General Hospital.

More Arrests In Sinanapayen Inquiry
Three more people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Frenchman Charles Sinanapayen in Bray, Co Wicklow. Two men and a woman in their 20s were detained in the Bray area this morning. Two other men were arrested over the weekend and the five are being questioned at Bray Garda Station.

Garda Injured In Cork
A garda has been injured while on duty in Cork on Monday night. The sergeant has been treated in hospital but has been discharged. He was bringing a patient, aged in his 20s, to the Mercy University Hospital just after 6pm. The garda is based at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Separate Shootings Under Investigation
Investigations have been launched into two shooting incidents over the weekend. In the latest incident, a man in his 30s was shot in the hand in North Dublin this morning. Gardaí in the Swords area of the capital are investigating the shooting which, occurred at a house at Boroimhe, Cedars in Swords at approximately 8.10am this morning.
