Woman Seriously Injured In Knife Attack In Cork City

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a knife attack on a woman in Cork city yesterday, 23 March.

It is understood that the woman, aged in her 20s, was slashed across the face a number of times when she was attacked as she parked her car on Friar's Street shortly after midday.

The woman is being treated for serious injuries at Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí have not yet been able to take an official statement from the woman due to the extent of her injuries.

Anyone who may have seen the Friar Street attack or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around midday to contact them in confidence.

Hammer Attack Mum 'Critical'
Gardaí said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with a serious assault in which a young mother was beaten with a hammer. They said that a 39-year-old man was arrested after he walked into a Garda station, yesterday morning, and said that he had attacked her.

Woman Stabbed In Athy
A woman has been stabbed in Athy, Co Kildare. The woman, believed to be in her 60s, was stabbed just before noon, on Tuesday. She was taken to Naas General Hospital and was treated with minor injuries. Gardai have launched an investigation. No arrests have been made.

Gardaí in Cork have appealed for witnesses to a hit-and-run in Co Cork at about 19:30 on Tuesday. A 71-year-old woman is being treated in hospital after she was knocked off her bicycle at Haymount, Lower Woodstock in Carrigtwohill. Her injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.
