Man Dies In Co Meath Shooting Incident

A man aged in his 50s has been killed after being shot in Ratoath, Co Meath.

Gardaí have reported that the man died in an incident at the Old Mill yesterday, 23 March.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau and Dr. Michael Curtis from the State Pathologists Office has attended the scene.

A post mortem is scheduled to take place tomorrow at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses who may have been in and around The Old Mill housing estate in Ratoath, or the Fairyhouse Road yesterday evening and who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious to contact Ashbourne Garda Station on 01-8010600, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800  666 111 or any Garda Station.

More information is due to be released today, 24 March.

Missing Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 24-year-old man has been found "safe and well". Alex Sherwin had been reported missing on Sunday, with garda issuing a public appeal for assistance. No information on Mr Sherwin's whereabouts have been released, but garda said the investigation had now ended. They thanked the public for their help.

Two Arrested Over Aidan Myers Murder
Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Aidan Myers, gardaí have confirmed. Mr Myers, 37, was killed by a gang who had attempted to hijack the car in which he was a passenger in Faughart, Co. Louth on December 12, 2006. He died after being attacked by a machete.

Gardaí Appeal For Information Over Crashes
After two fatal road collisions in Wicklow and Dublin, Gardaí have launched appeals seeking information in connection with the incidents. Officers at Rathfarnham Garda station want witnesses to an incident on Ballycullen Drive, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, which occurred between 1.30am and 2.30am in the early hours of Thursday morning to contact them.

Man Arrested Following Cannabis Find
A man has been arrested following the discovery of cannabis plants in the Kilclare area of Carrick-on Shannon. The plants, valued at €240,000, were recovered after a house was searched yesterday afternoon. The 44-year-old man is currently being detained at Manorhamilton garda station.
