Gardaí Appeal For Information Over Crashes

After two fatal road collisions in Wicklow and Dublin, Gardaí have launched appeals seeking information in connection with the incidents.

Officers at Rathfarnham Garda station want witnesses to an incident on Ballycullen Drive, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, which occurred between 1.30am and 2.30am in the early hours of Thursday morning to contact them.

A driver found a 24-year-old moped driver on the road around 2.10am. His green, blue and grey moped with an 02 registration was found nearby.

Gardaí said the injured man did not appear to have been wearing a motorcycle helmet.

The injured man was taken to Tallaght Hospital were he is reported to be in a critical condition.

Gardaí are asking anyone with information, particularly anyone who may have seen the moped and driver prior to the crash, to contact them at Rathfarnham Garda station on 01 666 6500.

In a separate incident Garda are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision, which occurred in Roundwood, Co. Wicklow at approximately 4.45pm on Wednesday. The collision involved a black Hyundai Accent and a blue Opel Corsa Hatchback.

Gardai are particularly interested in speaking to any person who was on the road between Kilmacanogue and Roundwood between 2.30pm. and 4.00pm yesterday. Witnesses with information should telephone Wicklow Garda Station at 0404-60140.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dublin Shooting Incident
Gardaí investigating a shooting incident outside a west Dublin school have made an arrest. A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested during the course of the search operation in Corduff. He has been detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, where he can be held for up to 72 hours.

Man Arrested Over Gun And Ammunition Seizure
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in an operation targeting organised criminal gangs in the Crumlin area of Dublin. Gardaí from Sundrive Road Garda Station arrested the man on Tuesday, 12 July, shortly after 9pm when they stopped and searched a car and its occupant close to Old County Road and discovered a firearm and ammunition.

Man Questioned Over Fatal Road Crash In Co Mayo
Garda have detained a man in connection with a fatal road crash in Co Mayo on Sunday, 08 May. A 41-year-old motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a van on the N26 at Ballinahaglush at around 3.45pm. A man was arrested and is being detained at Ballina Garda Station.
