More Than 50 Horses Seized In Cork

Officials from the Department of Agriculture, supported by Cork City Council and Gardaí officers, have seized and impounded over 50 horses after animal welfare concerns were raised.

It was part of an ongoing operation taking place in the Holyhill area of Cork surrounding problems with stray horses on public property and roads.

According to reports the carcasses of three horses, dumped in the area, have also been located.

It is understood that over 3,000 horses to date have been impounded across the country.

Impounded horses will only be released when owners produce passports for the horses and show that they have access to lands registered for grazing horses.
