Man Arrested In Connection With Cork Hijacking

A man in his early 20s has been arrested in connection with an armed hijacking at Grenagh, Cork.

Garda reported that a woman was driving through the village at about 7am on Wednesday 13 January when she stopped to assist a man standing on the roadside.

It is understood the man proceeded to threaten the woman with a knife before making off in her car.

The woman was not injured and notified Gardai.

The car was discovered at approximately 10am in a ditch on a road between Glanepane and Bweeing by Gardai. The man, in his early 20's, was arrested a short distance away and is currently detained at Gurranbraher Garda Station under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Two Arrested Over Aidan Myers Murder
Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Aidan Myers, gardaí have confirmed. Mr Myers, 37, was killed by a gang who had attempted to hijack the car in which he was a passenger in Faughart, Co. Louth on December 12, 2006. He died after being attacked by a machete.

Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car In Dublin
An elderly woman who was hit by a car in Dublin has died in hospital. The incident occurred on the Navan Road at around 8.15am on Sunday, 04 September. The driver of the car was arrested and taken to Finglas Garda Station. He has been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Missing Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 24-year-old man has been found "safe and well". Alex Sherwin had been reported missing on Sunday, with garda issuing a public appeal for assistance. No information on Mr Sherwin's whereabouts have been released, but garda said the investigation had now ended. They thanked the public for their help.
