Men Charged Over Violent Attacks In Athlone

Four men have been charged in connection with two violent incidents in Athlone earlier this week.

Gardaí had arrested three men on Wednesday in connection with an attack on an elderly taxi driver – the driver suffered multiple stab wounds – and the assault of an elderly shopkeeper.

One of those men has since been released but two others were arrested on Thursday.

They will appear before a special sitting of Mullingar District Court on the 07 August 2015.

14 Arrested In Connection With St Patrick's Day 'Violent Incident'
Fourteen men have been arrested in connection with a "violent incident" in Mullingar on St Patrick's Day last year, Garda have reported. The men, ranging in age from late teens to mid 40s, were arrested on Wednesday morning by officers investigating an incident in Dominick Street, Mullingar, on 17 March 2015.

Men Arrested Over Santry Cannabis Seizure
Cannabis worth an estimated €150,000 has been seized from a home in Larchill, Santry in Dublin, on Saturday. Gardaí arrested four men in connection with the find. They are due to appear in court on Monday.
