Five Arrested Over Theft Of ESB Power Cables

Five men have been arrested in connection with the theft of ESB overhead power cables in a gardaí operation.

Gardaí attached to the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, assisted by local Gardaí from Kildare and the Garda Air Support Unit, launched the arrest operation.

Two of the men have been released without charge and investigations are continuing. The three other men have been charged and are expected to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice today.

Two cars were also seized in relation to this operation.

Seven Arrested Over Money Laundering Investigation
Seven people have been arrested in a series of raids in Cork city on Thursday morning. Five women and two men, aged between 20 and 51, were detained by officers from the Divisional Fraud Investigation Unit, assisted by Divisional Drug Unit and CAB. Gardaí said that the arrested were made as part of an ongoing operation into money laundering.

More Than 50 Horses Seized In Cork
Officials from the Department of Agriculture, supported by Cork City Council and Gardaí officers, have seized and impounded over 50 horses after animal welfare concerns were raised. It was part of an ongoing operation taking place in the Holyhill area of Cork surrounding problems with stray horses on public property and roads.

Men Arrested Over Santry Cannabis Seizure
Cannabis worth an estimated €150,000 has been seized from a home in Larchill, Santry in Dublin, on Saturday. Gardaí arrested four men in connection with the find. They are due to appear in court on Monday.

Men Arrested Over €1m Cocaine And Heroin Find
Heroin and cocaine, with an estimated street value of €1m, has been recovered in a house search in Ballyfermot on Tuesday. Gardaí arrested two men, aged in their 30s, at the scene after officers uncovered 13kgs of cocaine worth an estimated €900,000 and 1.5kgs of heroin, with an estimated value of €225,000.

Three Men Arrested After 4x4 Rams Garda Checkpoint
Three men have been arrested as part of an operation targeting burglaries and theft in rural areas of Laois, Offaly, Tipperary, Carlow and Kilkenny, The arrests were made after a 4x4 vehicle failed to stop for a garda checkpoint just before midnight on Tuesday, 12 July, at Cloncourse, Portlaoise.
