Men Appear In Court Over Post Office Robbery

Two men are due to appear at Dublin District Court today charged in connection with an attempted armed robbery of a post office at Killnamanagh on 16 June.

The men are suspected of demanding money from staff with a hammer. They fled the scene empty-handed but were arrested by garda a short time later.

The men, one aged in his 30s, the other in his 40s, were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Tallaght Garda Station.

Gardaí are seeking four men in connection with an armed robbery of a post office in County Kerry. Two men, one carrying a pistol and the other a baseball bat, entered the Tarbet Post Office at about 16:00 on Tuesday and threatened staff while a third man stood blocking the door. There were no customers in the post office at the time.

Three men arrested in connection with an attempted robbery of a Dublin post office have been released without charge. It is understood three masked suspects armed with knives, a crowbar and other implements entered the building on Leonard's Corner at around 12:30pm yesterday, 03 December.
