Investigation Launched Over Alleged False Imprisonment

Gardaí have launched an investigation over the alleged false imprisonment and assault of two women in County Kildare last week.

The incident happened at Francis Lane, Newbridge, between 9pm on Thursday 14 May and 2pm Friday 15 May.

The women, aged 19 and 21, received non life-threatening injuries.

The women received a lift on Friday afternoon from a man driving an orange-coloured car in Newbridge to Tallaght Hospital.

The scene was preserved and technically examined.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Eight Arrested In Dundalk Murder Inquiry
Gardaí investigating the murder of Aidan Myers in Dundalk last year have arrested eight people. Six men and two women were arrested this morning. It is understood that four men, aged 19 and 26, are being questioned in relation to Mr Myers' murder, while two men and two women are being questioned on suspicion of withholding information.

Man Charged Following Robbery In Clontarf
A man has been charged in connection with a robbery in Clontarf earlier this week. The 25-year-old is due to appear in court today, 10 December. The incident happened at around 12.30pm on 8 December, when a suspect walked onto the driveway of a house on Malahide Road and assaulted a man in his 70s, before taking his car keys.

Four Girls In Hospital After Aerosol Explosion
Garda are investigating the circumstances surrounding four girls ending up in hospital after an aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda on Sunday. The girls are being treated in hospital, two in Crumlin's children's hospital and two in Tallaght, following the incident. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Corrib Report Reaches Commissioner
The Garda Commissioner has intercepted the commissioned report into the incident surrounding the arrest of two women protesters and alleged rape claims made by two gardaí in Co Mayo. Following the investigation into the alleged remarks, Commissioner Martin Callinan will now consider appropriate disciplinary action.
