Series Of Drug Raids Carried Out By Garda In Two Counties

A series of raids have been carried out by gardaí in Roscrea and Thurles, Co Tipperary and Birr, Co Offaly.

Two arrests were made in the Co Tipperary when around 50 gardaí officers raided a number of properties in five different locations.

Gardaí say that two men were arrested during the course of the raid for attempting to cause an obstruction.

The raids follow residents raising concerns at public meetings over drugs. Around 500 people staged an impromptu protest at a local garda station.

Gardaí say that the raids in Thurles seized amphetamine and cannabis with a combined street value of an estimated €40,000.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Two Gardaí Officers Secure International Honour
Two Gardaí officers have been honoured by Spanish police for their work helping tackle organised crime in Spain. Detective Superintendent Seamus Boland of the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) within Special Crime Operations and a Garda Liaison Officer visited Mallorca to receive the honour by the Guardia Civil.
