Man Released Over Trinity College Car Incident

A man who was arrested in connection with an incident in which a car was driven through the campus of Trinity College Dublin and rammed into the front gates has been released without charge.

The front gates of the university were rammed and several cars damaged when the 68-year-old drove through the campus yesterday.

The vehicle eventually stopped after hitting a number of cars when it was driven the wrong way up Dawson Street.

Gardaí are currently investigating the incident.

Man Injured In Car Crash
A man has been injured in a crash outside Athlone. The single vehicle incident happened at approximately 6.50am this morning at Ballynahown. The drivers injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Gardai in Athlone are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 090 649-8-550.

Man Arrested After Car Crashes Through Trinity Gates
A 68-year-old man has been arrested after crashing through the gates of Trinity College Dublin. The car rammed the gates a number of times, which had already been closed by security staff, before breaking through and causing damage to the gates. The car continued to drive up Dawson Street and also caused damage to other cars.

Two Men Injured In Shooting Attack
Two men have been injured in a shooting in Askeaton, Co Limerick last night. A gang of men pulled up alongside three men in a parked car at the Quays at around 10.15pm. One man got out of the car and fired a shot through the parked cars front window. As the three men tried to escape another shot was fired.

Court Date Over Cement Truck Crash
The 41-year-old man arrested after allegedly driving a concrete mixer truck into the gates of Leinster House yesterday is to appear in court today. Gardaí said the man, named as Joe McNamara from Achill Island, Co Mayo, is facing charges of criminal damage.

Weekend Accidents Add To Road Death Toll
Road traffic accidents have claimed the lives of three people. A 77-year-old pedestrian struck by a bus on Sunday afternoon died in hospital. Yesterday, a 19-year-old man died following a crash on Saturday in Co. Kildare. The man was a bicyclist who was involved in a collision with a van at the front gates of Newbridge College.
