Former Cork Lord Mayor Found Guilty Of Sexual Assault Charge

John Murray, the 83-year-old former lord mayor of Cork, has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl, despite denying the charges.

Murray, of Gregg Road, Cork, faced six counts of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the city in the mid-1990s.

According to reports the jury took four hours before returning a verdict of guilty on one of the counts. It is understood that the remaining five counts are still be deliberated.

Pair Charged With Keeping And Profiting From A Brothel
A man and a woman have appeared in court in Limerick charged in connection with running a brothel and living off the earnings of prostitutes. 54-yer-old Thomas Lyons, with an address at The Warrens, Malahide, Co Dublin, was charged with seven counts under the Criminal Law Sexual Offences Act and one count of making a false statement to gardaí.

Ex-Christian Brother Charged With 138 Counts Of Sexual Assault
A former Christian Brother has been charged with 138 counts of indecent assault on boys at a primary school in Limerick city more than 30 years ago. Séamus Treacy, 70, of Ashton Close, Swords, Dublin, appeared before Limerick District Court yesterday on the charges which concern 13 alleged victims.
