Detention Period Extended For Armed Raid Suspects

Gardaí have been approval to extend the detention of seven men arrested in connection with a violent robbery at a house in Co Tipperary.

A gang of armed men broke into the family of Mark and Emma Corcoran and their three children. The family were threatened before the gang escaped with cash, jewellery and the family 4x4 car.

However, seven men were subsequently arrested on the same night and following morning in connection with the raid.

They are being questioned at garda stations in Tipperary and can be held for another 48 hours.

According to gardaí an armed gang broke into the Killenaule home of a businessman and his family at around 03:00 on Thursday morning. The man was in the house at the time along with his wife and three children, all understood to be aged under eight.

Men Arrested Over Santry Cannabis Seizure
Cannabis worth an estimated €150,000 has been seized from a home in Larchill, Santry in Dublin, on Saturday. Gardaí arrested four men in connection with the find. They are due to appear in court on Monday.

Men Arrested Over €1m Cocaine And Heroin Find
Heroin and cocaine, with an estimated street value of €1m, has been recovered in a house search in Ballyfermot on Tuesday. Gardaí arrested two men, aged in their 30s, at the scene after officers uncovered 13kgs of cocaine worth an estimated €900,000 and 1.5kgs of heroin, with an estimated value of €225,000.

Questioning Of 'Tiger Kidnap' Suspects Continue
Two men are still being held in connection with a Tiger Kidnapping that occurred last October in west Dublin. The men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested yesterday in Phibsboro and Crumlin by gardaí investigating the kidnapping which involved the abduction of a female bank official and her family in the Lucan area of the capital.
