Former Fianna Fáil TD Faces Charges Over False Invoices

A former Fianna Fáil TD and junior minister has appeared in court charged with submitting false invoices for mobile phones in Leinster House.

Ivor Callely, 54, was arrested at his office in Dublin on Friday morning by garda from the Bureau of Fraud Investigation and brought before Dublin District Court.

He is accused of using false invoices to claim mobile phone expenses at Leinster House in November 2007, February 2008 and between September and December of 2009.

He will appear again next Thursday.

Former DUP Leader, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife, Lady Eleanor Donaldson, have appeared before Newry Magistrates Court charged with a number of historical sex offences. Donaldson, 61, is facing a total of 11 charges, including one charge of rape, one of gross indecency involving a child and nine charges of indecent assault.

16 In Court Over False Car Crash Injury Claims
Sixteen people are due to appear in a Cork court today, following an investigation into suspected organised fraudulent motor insurance injury claims. It is understood those charged – 10 males and six females – staged fake car crashed in order to make false insurance claims.
