Man Admits Unlawful Killing Of James Tynan

At Nenagh Circuit Court a 23-year old Tipperary man has admitted his part in the unlawful killing of James Tynan, 25, in Thurles almost a year ago.

Jason Morrissey of Church Street, Toomevara, pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing of Mr Tynan, at Liberty Square in Thurles on 19 February 2012.

Mr Tynan, who was from Johnstown, Co Killkenny, died after he was seriously assaulted while out socialising with friends.

Morrissey also pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to three other men on 8 February.

Sentencing has been set for 12 April for the preparation of psychiatric reports and victim impact statements from the Tynan family and from the families of the three other men who were assaulted.

Morrissey has been remanded in custody until then.

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with the manslaughter of James Tynan, 25. The victim died after being assaulted on Liberty Square, Thurles on 19 February this year. He appeared before Thurles district court this morning.

Man Dies Following Assault In Thurles
A man has died in hospital after being attacked in Thurles at the weekend. James Tynan, 25, sustained serious head injuries following an assault outside a nightclub. Mr Tynan had been socialising in Hayes Hotel on Saturday night when he was assaulted in what is believed to be an unprovoked attack.

Teen Sexually Assaulted Outside Home
An investigation has been launched after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted outside her home in Crumlin, south Dublin. It is understood the girl was standing at her front door when she was grabbed by a man and dragged to the side of the house, where she was attacked.
