Pipe Bomb Made Safe At Limerick Apartment Complex

A pipe bomb has been made safe at an apartment complex in Limerick city.

The Defence Forces team from Cork deployed to Upper Cecil Street in Limerick following a request from the Garda. The area between Catherine Street and Dominic Street had been cordoned off and local residents were evacuated to a safe location.

The team arrived at 11.25am and examined the improvised device, which was discovered in the apartment complex during a planned Garda operation on Tuesday morning. The device was found in a ground floor apartment of the four-storey building some time before 9am.

It was made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion and taken to a secure location for technical examination.

Four people, two men and two women aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested earlier the apartment complex where the device was discovered.

The 29-year-old suspect was charged on Tuesday evening and appeared before Criminal Courts of Justice today, 01 June.

Murder Investigation Launched Into Clontarf Man's Death
Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in an apartment in Clontarf in Dublin on Wednesday. The body of 50-year-old Finbar Dennehy was found in the Merchamp apartment complex on Seafield Road East on Wednesday.

Three Further Arrests Over Inchicore Murder
Gardai have made three further arrests in relation to the murder David Byrne on the 19th March 2011. Three males all aged in their late teens were arrested this morning and are currently detained at Garda Stations in the south inner city.

Two Arrested Over Byrne Murder
Two men in their 20's have been arrested in West Dublin in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old man in Inchicore. David Byrne was found in the car park of Emmet Court apartment block on Saturday night. He was stabbed at least four times and was pronounced dead in St James's Hospital.
